Poland – Wasting public resources
According to Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, from the right wing party Law and Justice, during their eight years in power, the Civic Platform and the Polish People’s Party wasted PLN 340 billion of taxpayers’ money. Szydlo underlined how this money could have been used for social family benefits and the construction of new kindergartens, hospitals and motorways. As she put it: “The state should serve citizens. The state ruled by ‘you’ served only your political interests”.

EU – Corruption: Summit in London
Boyko Borisov, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, will be in London on Wednesday for an anti-corruption summit, during which he will also meet bilaterally with his counterpart David Cameron. The summit will investigate the possibilities of a global anti-corruption effort. Other issues that will be discussed include government transparency and corporate secrecy.
