Pier Domenico Tortola is a political scientist focusing on EU institutions and, more generally, on European integration as a process of state transformation. Recently he has been investigating the EU’s attempts to acquire a role in the area of spatial planning—a topic on which he is currently preparing a book-length manuscript. His latest research has appeared, among others, in the Journal of Common Market Studies, The International Spectator, European Planning Studies and the European Journal of Political Research. Before joining REScEU as EuVisions director, Piero worked at the Centre for the Study of Federalism and the Collegio Carlo Alberto, both based in Turin.
