Michele Salvati


Michele Salvati is emeritus professor of economics at the University of Milan, and the director of the Italian cultural and political bi-montly Il Mulino. Professor Salvati has taught in several Italian and international universities and authored numerous books and essays in areas such as industrial and labour economics, macroeconomics, political economy, social science methodology, the history of economic thought, and Italian and comparative economic development. His most recent books are Capitalismo, mercato e democrazia (Bologna: Il Mulino, 2009) and Tre pezzi facili sull’Italia: democrazia, crisi economica, Berlusconi (Bologna: Il Mulino, 2011). Professor Salvati was a member of the 13th Italian Chamber of Deputies, and is a long-time op-ed contributor to the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
