The French presidential elections will be a cornerstone in the fight that Brexit and other similar anti-EU movements and events started in recent history. The unity of the European continent will heavily depend on the results of this elections: if Marine Le Pen and her Front National will be able to win, or even get a good number of votes, as it is imagined, European institutions will have to re-think their strategies in social, economical and humanitarian policies. On the other hand, left wing forces struggle to find unity under a single banner and right wing candidate François Fillon’s credibility crumbles under the pressure of the so-called “Penelopegate”.
